 News & Events for 2012

Moving ever forward into the online world...I now have an Etsy shop.  This opens up my work to the world, which is a very exciting prospect.  Etsy has an excellent  reputation and only allows shops for handmade items, but the variety is phenomenal and very well organized, so someone looking for fused glass will find my work.  The format is wonderful, so have a peek and check it out.  Just click the Etsy button!  It's also set up for me to Tweet and post on Facebook whenever I add something new, so if you follow or friend me, you'll know when new pieces go up.  Ah, the technology!

I've got a Glass page set up on   and Twitter and have started a Blog as well.  I need likes on the Facebook page apparently, so if you have the time, click the link and like!  One day I will understand all this social media stuff,  but it's not today!

Events for 2012

June 9th  & 10th - CACSP Spring Studio Tour

( Muse Winery- 11195 Chalet Road, N. Saanich, BC)

Each year, the Community Arts Council of the Saanich Peninsula organizes this self-guided tour of local artists studios.  Being on Piers Island makes it impossible for people to come to our studios, so you'll find Barry Tate and I at Muse Winery for the tour along with Mary Kennedy and Terry Venables.  CACSP puts together a wonderful map to guide you to the participating studios & venues.  We love this tour, showing our work and enjoying the wine and food at Muse while there for the weekend.  You might want to plan to visit us around lunchtime and make a reservation with Bistro Muse.

August 1st to 12th  - Glass Only - Debbie Jansen & Friends

Coast Collective Gallery at Havenwood - 3221 Heatherbell Road, Westshore, Esquimalt Lagoon

It was such an honor to be included in this group of talented glass artists at the first show last year.  It was an absolute delight to discover this wonderful gallery in Pendray House at Havenwood situated on the bird sanctuary side of Esquimalt Lagoon.  It is a treasure.  I'll provide more details when available, or stay connected at www.coastcollective.ca

October - CACSP Fall Studio Tour

Dates to be advised and venue.  I won't be doing a Christmas show this year, so this will be the last show of 2012.

British Columbia Magazine has just launched their online Gift Shop and I'm pleased to have been chosen as one of their represented BC Artists.  The theme and style of these necklaces and earrings is the same, but as always, it's Steve's unique one of kind beads that makes them special.  Have a peak and follow the link to check out.

Those who own "Princes" have a special connection with their pieces, and they know how they always make me smile.  So, I'm sometimes surprised with news from them in a photographic way!

Wedding & Special Occasions Registry  We offer this service to those who would like to give the opportunity to their friends and family to give them something very special as a gift.  You choose the piece (jewelry, a glass sculpture, glass plate) and can either let people know about the website, or you can provide us with the name of a person to contact regarding your choice and the name of the piece.  We will advise you if the piece is still available and will hold it for 10 days in your name, allowing time for the interested parties to decide.  This is also a great way for wives to allow us to drop big hints on their behalf for jewelry and/or art for upcoming birthdays and anniversaries and of course, for Christmas to distraught husbands.  It also makes sure they won't forget!  We also have Gift Certificates available.

Layaway

My very first purchase of art was made on layaway.  I can still remember it was a $2,000.00 painting and I gave the artist 10 post-dated cheques for $200.00 and at the end of 10 months, that painting was mine!  It was a thrill of purchasing an original piece of art and as it was paid over time, it didn't hurt the pocket book either.  I would like to offer that same opportunity to purchase on layaway, so that new collectors can have this same chance to begin.  Click the Layaway link to start collecting!
